MyEnergi: The Happi Green Family

MyEnergi: The Happi Green Family
Updated: 2 February 2022

Who Are MyEnergi

myenergi launched in 2016, by Yin Yang duo Jordan Brompton and Lee Sutton. Starting from Lee’s kitchen table, now expanding to a new office space in Binbrook Lincolnshire, it is safe to say that myenergi have taken the renewable sector by storm. We recently sat down with myenergi’s Jordan Brompton to get an inside perspective on all things renewable.

Lee and Jordan have worked together in the Renewable industry for over 10 years. Once the “Solar Coaster” had crashed, and things started to settle down, they saw an opportunity. Lee, an electronics master, and once Solar installer himself, alongside Jordan, educator and former bike part importer, set out to start myenergi. The first company in the world to look at renewable energy in the home, and electric vehicles, and bridge the two together. Despite, the initial reactions of the market being too niche, their products have been a huge success. We for one, can’t get enough of installing them.

Why myenergi?

When asked why the name “myenergi”, Jordan responded with the following.

“myenergi in essence is what we do. Its your energy. And through our app you can see exactly the flow of energy, what is being imported, what is being exported, where it is going within the home. So it gives the customer the power over their energy. Also myenergi sounds a lot better than their energy. The “i” gives it a tech flair, it stands for so much. Intelligence. Innovation. Inclusivity. “

With many more products in the pipeline, myenergi plan to add more controllability and flexibility to home energy management. With a hungry, ambitious team of now 142 staff, there is no holding the myenergi team back.

Making The Switch To Solar Energy

Working in the renewable industry for such a long time, Jordan has always suffered from home envy. With the dream of being energy independent, and moving into a new home earlier this year, it was the perfect opportunity to finally go Solar. With a fear of a zombie apocalypse approaching, she is happy that even if all power went offline, she would still have power through her Solar Panels.

Jordan Brompton Myenergi

“Getting Solar is so satisfying. I have always dreamed of being off-grid. Not a Hippie in the woods off-grid, but energy independent. I am addicted to my app, I am always tracking my energy consumption and export. I have 2 eddis, which takes my surplus power to my Immersion Tank and underfloor heating, and the zappi to charge my car. I love being green, and doing something epic for the planet.”

Since COVID, Jordan believes that people are reading more about climate change, and starting to understand it. As people are looking more at their energy bills, and wanting to make savings, as working from home can be expensive. Renewable energy is the perfect product to combat that.

myenergi Products

1. The myenergi Zappi Ev Charger

The Zappi, is dubbed the world’s first Solar compatible EV Charger. This is because it can take energy generated through a Solar PV System to charge an electric car with solar energy. The myenergi Zappi makes it easy for you to utilise your green generation, and get the greatest return on your investment. Paired with the myenergi App, you can take advantage of Economy tariffs, and set timers for charging, as well as monitor your devices.

2. The myenergi Eddi

The myenergi Eddi, diverts surplus energy from your Solar PV or wind turbine system, and uses it to heat your water. By heating your water through Solar PV, rather than loosing your generation to the grid, you are using it within your own home.

FUN FACT: Did you know that MyEnergi’s Eddi was named after the current! Spelt with an “i” instead of a “y” of course. The Eddy current, is actually a current in water and in heat. Jordan felt as though the name would humanise the product and make it easier to understand.

3. The myenergi harvi

The harvi is an energy harvesting wireless sensor, that allows the zappi and eddi to be installed wirelessly. It saves both time and money, aswell as elimating batteries and wiring.

3. The myenergi Hub

The myenergi Hub provides a fast and reliable internet connection between your myenergi devices. This is to control and monitor so them remotely through the myenergi app.

FUN FACT: The myenergi team did consider calling the Hub, “Hubi”, but they thought that would be taking it a step too far.

The Future Of The Renewable Industry.

Jordan Brompton Myenergi

Jordan believes that the renewable sector is very much still emerging. So there is still a lot of change still to come. With dreams of the UK being completely run on wind and solar, Jordan is super excited for the renewable market to continue to grow, and believe that the EV market will play a vital role.

“The EV Market is going to pull the renewable market. As soon as someone plugs in an electric car, they will see how much their bill goes up and will look to combat that. I hope the domestic renewable becomes a lot more mainstream and adopted by more people. I see it becoming a huge success with the growth of EV.”

Jordan also believes that home owners being able to support the grid will play an important factor in the uprise of Electric Vehicles.

“Customer’s are now able to support the grid. So when a load of EVs start getting plugged in, well that’s essentially a large load, and homeowners through smart technology will be able to help support that load. The grid wouldn’t collapse but be assisted.”

As the UK aims to decarbonise, Jordan hopes to see more innovation in the space. “There’s so many cool things that could be done with energy, smart grids, smart tariffs, and agile tariffs which will hopefully encourage the installation of more domestic and commercial renewables.”
